Fabrizio Tamburini


Born in Venezia, 10 September 1963

ACADEMIC DEGREES: Laurea in Astronomy 110/110 Summa cum Laude (with Honours), 1999. Majors: Quantum Field Theory, Early Universe Cosmology, General Relativity. University of Padova, Italy. M.Sc. (with Honours), 2000, Majors: Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics. Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, University of Portsmouth, UK.

DOCTOR DEGREE: Ph.D. 2002 Institute of Cosmology and Gravitation, University of Portsmouth, UK. Thesis: Aspects of gravitation in Astrophysics: from accretion disks to Quantum Astronomy. Supervisor Prof. B. Bassett. Mayors: Astronomy, Astrophysics, Applied Mathematics, Physics of Quantum Information.

MAIN WORK AREA: Quantum Mechanics, General Relativity and Astrophysics of compact objects. He also worked in projects of Quantum Communication to Space and Quantum Astronomy. He is currently working on the theoretical aspects and applications of the Photon Orbital Angular Momentum in astronomy, plasmonics and in telecommunications. More than 50 scientific contributions including one book and a book chapter. Hundreds of interviews in scientific and non-scientific magazines and newspapers. International and national TV Radio interviews regarding his scientific contributions. Teaching and co-supervision of more than 20 Licentiate degrees, M.Sc and Ph.D students. Active partecipation in 14 funding grants since 2002. Teacher in the international doctorate “Economics and Techniques for the conservation of the architectural and environmental heritage”, IAES, with the patronage of the General Direction of The Council of Europe. Three patents. Tenths of invited talks and conferences. Referee of international scientific journals and member of the editorial board of an international optics journal.Lecturer at the Celsius Symposium 2010 of the Celsius-Linnaeus lecture 2010, Uppsala, Sweden.

CURRENT ACADEMIC POSITIONS: Researcher at CIVEN and Dept. of Physics and Astronomy, University of Padova, on Electromagnetic vorticities.

OTHER ACADEMIC POSITIONS: Member of the Scientific Board of the International Academy of Environmental Sciences (IAES), Venice and University of Nova Gorica.
